RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Controller

SUMMARY: Under direct supervision, performs complex data entry and related operations in posting accounts receivable payments. Maintains appropriate ledgers. Resolves credit balances and account problems; posts claim denials, refunds, adjustments, and other account actions.

DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Cash Receipts: Cash receipts are to be posted to appropriate resident account balances within established time frames.
  2. Collections: Constantly monitor resident account balances to ensure proper payment is received. Initiate investigation into non-payment issues, contact payor for explanation, re-bill as appropriate and suggest referral to collection attorney if warranted.
  3. Input accounts payables into electronic system. Review A/R Aging of all private pay financial classes to identify problem accounts.
  4. Other duties: Assist the Medicaid Specialist with Admission Agreements and Medicaid applications.
  5. Receives and receipts cash items and third party payments; posts and reconciles payments to ledgers.
  6. Performs a variety of general clerical duties, including telephone reception, mail distribution, and other routine functions.
  7. Ensures strict confidentiality of financial records.
  8. May assist in preparing documentation and responses for legal inquiries, litigation, and court appearances.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  10. Performs fill-in duties for reception other office positions during vacation and on leave periods.
  11. Other related duties that may become necessary or as directed by the Supervisor, Department Head and/or Administrator.


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED with 2-3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

  • Ability to secure and handle cash.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
