POSITION DESCRIPTION: Performs professional level administrative work for the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer and the Legislative Coordinator. CLASS DESCRIPTION: Performs intermediate professional level administrative work, which may include supervisory responsibility, under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes administrative support of a functional program and professional level analysis and coordination of functional office programs and activities.Include the following, other related duties may be assigned: Manages a system to track the status of legislation. Serves as point of contact for Executive staff as to status of legislation. Tracks and analyzes legislation filed by the County Council. May perform initial drafts of routine legislation, amendments, resolutions, and appointments. As directed, ensures that testimony has been received for legislative items and reviews testimony. Attends work sessions and monthly meetings, as directed. Makes copies for pre-file, compiles filed legislation into books for senior staff and maintains legislative files. Distributes passed legislation to impacted parties. Performs initial drafts of decisions of the Personnel Officer designee, as assigned. Handles scheduling of Step 4 grievances and appeal hearings. Performs administrative work in scheduling labor/management meetings and compiling of the contract negotiation process and collective bargaining agreements. Assists with the input of budget data into the budget system, SAP and grants management. Assists in coverage for the front desk administrative aide. Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree Proficient in Excel/Word/Adobe LANGUAGE SKILLS, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
