Job Title: Radiologic Technologist, CT Technologist Job Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights, 36-40 hours Guaranteed Hours: 36 Experience: Prior experience as a practicing Technologist in any of the specified modalities is preferred. License: Must have 2 of the following registries: ARRT registration in Radiology (R) or Computed Tomography (CT) Certifications: Current BLS certification (or must be obtained within 90 days) Must-Have: - Ability to legally work - Ability to pass a background check - Ability to pass a drug screen and breath alcohol test - Must complete employee health meeting Job Description: The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. This role involves providing patient education, quality patient care, and ensuring all regulatory compliance. - Demonstrates advanced knowledge of imaging procedures in at least two modalities. - Practices radiation safety and adheres to ALARA standards. - Inquires about pregnancy status from female patients and protects them from harmful radiation. - Performs quality control in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. - Operates equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines. - Conducts exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or coordinates with the Radiologist. - Assists with clerical duties and patient transportation as needed. - Answers telephones, directs calls, and records messages accurately. - Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed. - Submits equipment downtime form and promptly notifies the manager of equipment issues. - Flexible in work scheduling for emergencies, illnesses, and vacations. - Self-motivated with independent judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision. - Alerts Radiologist of all STAT or Emergent cases and provides physician contact information. - Obtains appropriate informed consents when required. - Documents and provides medical history relevant to the patient and procedure. - Acts as a positive and supportive team member within the hospital. - Responsible for ordering, stocking, and inventory of supplies. - Submits written orders, registration documents, and necessary imaging forms to Health Information Management and Radiologist. - Troubleshoots equipment problems and contacts service engineer for maintenance when needed. - Verifies exam orders, identifies patients through two means, and provides exam education. - Ensures all relevant paperwork and prior studies are available before submitting procedures to Radiologist for interpretation. - Works additional hours as directed and participates in call duties. - May require additional training or certification to meet departmental needs. - Assists or rotates to other imaging modalities within scope of licensure and/or registry. - Takes call duties, works holidays, and weekends as required. - Adheres to professional behavior and dress code policies. - Completes annual education, training, licensure, and certification requirements. - Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. - Participates in departmental and facility performance improvement activities. - Ensures compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies. - Follows policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management.
