Surety & Fidelity Attorney

Job Description:
A well-known and expanding firm is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Surety & Fidelity Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on complex legal matters involving surety bonds, fidelity bonds, and other related insurance products. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the laws governing suretyship and fidelity insurance, strong litigation skills, and a passion for providing exceptional legal counsel to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent clients in the surety and fidelity industry in complex litigation, including but not limited to bond claims, construction disputes, and fidelity claims. Provide expert legal advice and counsel to clients regarding surety and fidelity bond law, risk management, claims handling, and regulatory compliance. Draft, review, and negotiate surety bonds, indemnity agreements, and other related contracts. Analyze and resolve disputes involving claims under surety and fidelity bonds. Work with insurance companies, underwriters, and other stakeholders to resolve bond-related issues. Assist with compliance and regulatory matters concerning surety and fidelity laws. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends. Conduct legal research, prepare legal opinions, and draft reports on complex legal matters. Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials as necessary. Collaborate with colleagues and provide mentorship to junior attorneys and staff.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in Tennessee. Minimum of 3 years of experience in surety, fidelity, or insurance-related law. Extensive knowledge of surety and fidelity bond laws, including federal and state regulations. Proven experience in litigation and dispute resolution, including trial experience. Strong research, writing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases or projects simultaneously. Excellent client relationship management skills. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with large corporate clients or insurers in the surety or fidelity space. Membership in relevant legal organizations (e.g., National Association of Surety Bond Producers, American Bar Association).
