The Team:
As Head of Communications for S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global, you will lead a talented and dynamic team of communicators in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. You will oversee both internal and external communications programs for the division that are aligned with broader enterprise goals. You will work closely with S&P Global’s enterprise Communications and S&P Dow Jones Indices leadership teams. This role will report directly to the Global Group Head of Communications for S&P Global Ratings and S&P Dow Jones Indices, ensuring alignment across S&P Global divisions and the broader communication strategy for S&P Global.
The Impact:
You will:
Lead a global communications team by developing and executing an integrated communications strategy for S&P Dow Jones Indices that aligns with the division’s strategic priorities and growth areas.
Drive the external communications and media relations strategy for the division, raising the visibility and reputation of S&P Dow Jones Indices’ market-leading indices and benchmarks.
Partner closely with the S&P Dow Jones Indices CEO, Operating Committee, and leadership teams to communicate key initiatives that drive employee engagement and business success.
Partner with and serve as counsel to the Group Head of Communications for Ratings and Indices, contributing to the overall leadership of the communications function across both Ratings and Indices.
Collaborate with the People Team and Enterprise Internal Communications to develop strategies that support people initiatives, change communications, and business priorities.
Oversee the evolution of corporate messaging on benchmarking, financial markets, and market trends, ensuring alignment with other divisions and broader organizational priorities.
Responsibilities:
Internal Communications Strategy
Lead the development and execution of the communications strategy for S&P Dow Jones Indices, ensuring alignment with broader divisional and enterprise goals.
Partner with leadership teams to drive global internal communications that engage employees, keeping them informed and aligned with business objectives.
Provide strategic counsel to senior leaders, offering support for leadership communications, change management, and business strategy communication.
Manage communication programs for organizational changes, mergers, and other initiatives, ensuring smooth communication during transitions.
Use employee feedback and metrics to continuously improve communication strategies and drive engagement.
External Communications Strategy
Lead S&P Dow Jones Indices external communications strategy and oversee global implementation of regional programs.
Drive outreach for the division’s thought leadership program, positioning S&P Dow Jones Indices as a key authority in financial benchmarks and indexing and market insights.
Identify and align with market trends that impact communication programs, particularly in sustainability, active vs. passive investing, private markets, and Generative AI.
Lead the division’s crisis communications strategy, proactively developing messaging to protect its reputation.
Develop a communications metrics-driven reporting framework that demonstrates accountability and progress against the communications strategy.
Manage and mentor the Divisional Communication team, supporting their career development and ongoing growth.
Compensation/Benefits Information:

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is 121,757 to 213,964.25. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Business, Finance, or related fields; Master’s preferred.
Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate, strategic, or internal communications, ideally within financial services or regulated industries.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, particularly in conveying complex financial and market-related content clearly and effectively.
Experience leading communications for a global, cross-functional team, particularly within the financial or regulated sectors.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing both internal and external communications strategies that align with business goals.
Proven track record in managing crisis communication strategies and protecting corporate reputation.
Experience in financial markets, indices, or data services, with preference for familiarity with S&P Dow Jones Indices.
Additional Qualifications:
Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead and inspire a global communications team.
Strong strategic thinking skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear, actionable communication plans.
Exceptional stakeholder management, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
