Summary
The Insights & Strategy team is a critical component of Harbor Distribution and seeks to uncover and communicate unexpected shifts in the way we understand the asset management industry, business, and our clients. Our team is responsible for partnering with Distribution leaders to design, develop and communicate actionable insights aligned to the strategic and tactical objectives of the organization.
We are seeking an individual who is a critical thinker and can breakdown complex problems and derive data-driven solutions across internal and external datasets. The Director of Sales Insights will partner across the organization to enhance our capabilities around the competitive landscape, client experience and product opportunities. This position will report to the Head of Distribution Insights & Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Through use of various data sets, uncover tactical and strategic approaches to large opportunities based on Harbors product set, provide insight into activities that will deliver the most value to customers and potential customers over time.
- Utilize SQL, Tableau, and other analytical tools to maintain reporting structure monthly, continuously improve the reporting infrastructure with deepened insights from analysis.
- Own end-to-end project management of data and reporting requests.
- Drive insights for business development – be the domain expert into guiding the sales and marketing teams around the use of data insights, communicate interesting stories and provide value to strategic initiatives.
- Effectively communicate findings and results to various stakeholders including senior leadership across marketing and sales by explaining the story behind the data and make recommendations to the business.
- Design, develop, and implement intuitive dashboards designed for easy consumption by business stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years’ prior work experience in data, analytics, business management.
- Experience in the financial services industry preferred, banking, capital markets, insurance. Asset management industry experience a plus.
- Expert at SQL and Excel for querying and manipulating data for analysis and visualization.
- Proven investment experience and a strong understanding of portfolio management and the investment landscape.
- Proven track record of turning data into actionable insights to support executive decision-making.
- Demonstrated success working with data discovery, analytics, visualization, and business intelligence tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner with clear recommendations based on data insight.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Ability to quantify improvement in business areas resulting from optimization techniques through use of business analytics and/or statistical modeling.
- Proven track record of collaborating to build consensus across multiple levels of the organization, and influencing and driving delivery of senior leaders.
- Must have technical acumen to understand products, competitor products and strategies, customer requirements, objections, and articulate advantages.
- Ability to acquire, synthesize and interpret program and project data into executive themes and storylines for senior consumption.
