Position Overview
Each vCIO, in conjunction with the assigned Account Management Team, is responsible for managing a book of business. The vCIO is responsible for building long-term trusted relationships with our clients, providing a strategic technical and security vision through delivery of presentations and assessments. As a vCIO, your focus is on the business, infrastructure, and providing technology guidance in alignment with Thrive’s service offerings. This is to ensure operational health, security, resiliency and competitive advantage.
The vCIO is considered an executive partner to assigned clients and works directly with client C-Suite to understand their business needs as well as closely with Thrive’s internal teams to make sure we are helping clients mitigate risk and increase productivity.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain strong client relationship, serve as trusted strategic advisor leveraging scheduled, ad-hoc, and C-Level meetings with portfolio companies and their Private Equity investor teams (as needed).
Develop and maintain a deep functional knowledge of customer’s goals, technical challenges, business objectives, critical infrastructure, and proactively mitigate risk within the environment.
Perform gap analyses, develop technical business presentations, provide technology audits to ensure appropriate products/services are present.
Maintain technical competence by attending and participating in trainings, webinars, and certification courses.
Provide client-based feedback to Thrive management on new needs not currently addressed within the Thrive Platform with a focus on continuous improvements and enhancements.
Forecasting opportunity (risk, profitability, prediction, etc.) on assigned accounts in partnership with Account Manager.
Assist with client road-mapping / budget forecasting, financial cost analysis reports and documentation.
Engage with client compliance team members (internal and external) to provide security recommendations which covers both business and regulatory needs.
Support clients in conducting and maintaining cybersecurity program self-assessments.
Qualifications
Most recent five years + experience in a similar technical advisory, consulting, or IT Director/Manager oriented role. ITIL fluency or certification a plus.
Preferably able to commute to either our Thrive New England office or Midtown NY office once a week for in-person team collaboration.
Demonstrated presentation skills, including confidence and comfort in video calls and in front of audiences both small and large. Willingness/Ability to participate in-person with clients.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with senior-level executives as well as negotiate with and influence both internal and external decision makers.
Strong leadership skills - Clients’ must value your advice and role, and recognize you as one of their trusted advisors.
Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
Experience supporting Private Equity backed companies or working directly with/for PE firms managing technology or security operations for portfolio investments. Demonstrated ability to match the rapid pace of these companies and manage multiple priorities.
IT due diligence individual contributor. Performed pre-deal diligence and post-deal merger integration for SMB and mid-market cohorts.
Center for Internet Security, CIS Critical Security Controls framework familiarity or similar (NIST).
Experience working in ServiceNow, Salesforce, Kaseya, FortiManager are all a plus.
