Taylor Hopkinson is in search of a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer with the largest and most experienced power industry engineering advisory firms. This role involves leading engineering projects focused on power generation, plant design, environmental compliance, and advanced decarbonization technologies like renewable energy, carbon capture, and green hydrogen. Responsibilities: Lead engineering role within project teams, focusing on design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for plant retrofits and new installations Design power distribution systems and draft specifications for procuring major electrical equipment Coordinate installation services to ensure project goals are met on time and within budget Support project manager in project delivery and compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements Prepare and review functional design drawings (e.g., single line, relay, metering, cable block, schematic diagrams) Conduct detailed calculations, including auxiliary power system studies, voltage drop, protective relay settings, and arc flash assessments Interface with vendors to prepare bills of materials, equipment specifications, and provide recommendations Compile technical reports and studies to meet client needs and internal standards Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support Participate in peer-learning and internal practice communities to support professional growth Occasional travel required for client/vendor meetings, design reviews, and construction coordination Requirements: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; a focus on power systems preferred PE license preferred, or ability to earn one 10 years in power or industrial plant design, focused on detailed system design for new or modified facilities Expertise in equipment selection, materials, control philosophy, and detailed calculations and specifications Experience with electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors), and analytically calculations Proficient with ETAP and/or SKM for calculations Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment Experience as a lead engineer and client liaison Ability to review and validate design calculations and drawings Valued but not required: Knowledge of instrumentation and controls engineering Project management and business development experience Construction and start-up experience
