Head of Engineering at XILO XILO, a fast-growing Vertical AI company recently backed by a Series A financing round, is searching for an experienced and driven Head of Engineering to lead our engineering team and propel our platform and AI products into the future. About XILO Founded in 2019 by two best friends, Jon and Eli, XILO set out to revolutionize the insurance industry by solving its biggest challenges. Eli, a brokerage owner, brought invaluable industry expertise, while Jon, an experienced software engineer, saw an opportunity to innovate using technology. About the Role As the Head of Engineering at XILO, you’ll be the cornerstone of our engineering strategy, responsible for driving architectural excellence, scaling our systems, and advancing our AI capabilities. You’ll lead and grow a dynamic team of engineers, ensuring the XILO platform remains innovative, secure, and scalable. This is an opportunity to directly shape the future of AI in the insurance industry while maintaining a hands-on approach to coding and development. Key Responsibilities: Design and manage the architecture for a multi-product SaaS platform. Oversee database design to ensure scalability and support across all services. Lead SOC 2 audits and implement GDPR and HIPAA compliance measures. Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of 20 engineers, both domestic and offshore. Enhance performance of AI models, including LLMs and OCR capabilities. Maintain engineering efficiency at scale using DORA metrics. What We’re Looking For: Passionate coder who still loves writing code daily. Skilled mentor capable of developing junior engineers into mid-level and mid-level engineers into senior engineers. Exceptional multitasker, capable of managing a wide range of priorities simultaneously. Focused on engineering excellence, not product management. Engages directly with customers on multiple calls per month. Builds strong relationships with Product Management and Design teams. Collaborative team player with no ego and a mindset of continuous improvement. Relentless work ethic: doesn’t stop until the job is done and done right.
