Job Summary: General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systmes manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance markets. We presently have a need for a Sr Electrical Engineer at our San Diego (Otay Mesa) location . This position is responsible for planning, organizing and reviewing the performance of professional and/or technical staff performing engineering work related to the design of control electronics for motion control products. Responsibilities: Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems. Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs. Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved. Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years experience Preferred Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree Discipline/Major: Electrical Engineering or other Engineering degree required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Oral and Written Communication. Critical Professional Related Technical Skills; Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Preferred experience for this role: Knowledge of electro-mechanical testing methods, data collection and analysis, equipment used in testing, and methods/processes of testing operations Experience with embedded C for motor control Knowledge of feedback devices for motor control such as hall sensors, resolvers and encoders Experience with multiple serial communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, RS232/RS485 Gigabit Ethernet direct experience is a plus Strong research, design, and development knowledge within the electrical engineering discipline including the knowledge of control systems. Proficient with MATLAB and SIMULINK applications. Altium Designer skillset is a plus
