Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior or Staff Data Scientist with experience as a Software Engineer. The ideal candidate has a deep skillset in Data Science and modeling, but can also flex as a Backend Engineer to build their own datasets, tools, and production code from scratch. The systems developed by this person will drive the logistics and operational optimization of cutting-edge mobile energy storage systems. Key Responsibilities: Develop models and simulations of energy storage system utilization Define scheduling and optimization algorithms to model real-world operations Bootstrap a data pipeline and warehousing strategy to collect and analyze time series telematics Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software and system-level architectures that meet performance and safety requirements Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement Collaborate with firmware, systems, and product team members to determine where development efforts will have the greatest impact Foster data as a core tenet for decision-making at Anode Must Have: 7 years of relevant experience (data science and/or software engineering) Master of Sciences in a relevant field (Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.) Strong proficiency in modeling and simulation Proficiency in core web competencies including SQL and relational database design Experience writing “production ready” code and owning it throughout deployment Experience driving development roadmaps and supporting operations in production Strong desire to own and understand the product from end-to-end (you will likely need to answer “why” build something in addition to “how”) Willingness to learn new skills and flex into all aspects of software development and deployment Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Bonus Points for Experience With: Experience with time-series data storage and analysis. Familiarity with bootstrapping data pipelines, warehouses, or lakes. Knowledge of machine learning and constraint/cost function optimization. Background in robotics, battery management, power systems, or electric vehicles. Exposure to energy standards like SunSpec, IEEE 2030.5, UL 2900.
