Position Overview The Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager fosters a culture of food safety through further developing, implementing, and managing the food safety program in compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. This position also leads initiatives to enhance protocols and monitor ongoing compliance efforts. Position Responsibilities · Acts as SQF Practitioner, overseeing the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of SQF Certification. · Leads as HACCP Team Leader company-wide, overseeing HACCP plan development and compliance in both locations. · Develops SOPs applicable to both facilities, ensuring consistency and alignment with company-wide food safety goals. · Maintains and manages the food safety system across both facilities, overseeing daily log verification and annual validation company-wide. · Monitors compliance with CCP and prerequisite program records across both facilities to ensure company-wide accuracy. · Leads company-wide regulatory compliance and certification efforts, ensuring both facilities meet all required standards. · Development Defines product specifications using scientific data, setting quality benchmarks applicable to both facilities. · Leads quality analysis of grain and flour across both facilities, determining disposition and communicating results. · Manages supplier compliance programs company-wide, ensuring adherence to food safety standards for all suppliers. · Provides technical guidance and direction internally and externally through certificates of analysis. · Oversees quarterly inspections across facilities, identifying and coordinating facility-specific corrective actions. · Leads investigations of customer complaints across both locations, performing root cause analysis and coordinating process-related corrective actions. · Leads annual audits of the food safety system company-wide, ensuring standardization across both facilities. · Acts as the primary regulatory contact and oversees company-wide regulatory compliance strategy, ensuring alignment across facilities. · Develops training modules and identifies training needs company-wide, ensuring alignment across facilities. · Leads employee training initiatives and monitors training outcomes. · Provides corrective feedback company-wide to address poor practices and promote a consistent food safety culture. · Manages OSHA-related activities, compliance documentation, and training requirements across facilities. · Supporting staff in identifying new protocols or purchases to support safe operations company-wide. · Leads and conducts internal safety and food safety inspections across facilities, ensuring consistent standards and follow-up on corrective actions. · Oversees accurate recordkeeping and compliance across both locations and departments, ensuring alignment with food and workplace safety standards. · Acts as the primary point of contact for both the Oregon and Washington State Departments of Agriculture, overseeing regulatory compliance across both locations. · Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements across certification entities. · Act as an external consultant and advisor for various projects, providing expert guidance on food safety and quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. · Engages with all levels of the organization to promote a culture of quality and food safety, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. · Ensures the new mill meets all regulatory requirements and obtains necessary certifications, overseeing SQF, Organic, Kosher, and Non-GMO compliance. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field • 5 years of quality assurance/food processing experience • 2 years food labeling experience • 2 years of quality assurance experience • HACCP certification and SQF Practitioner certification • PCQI, FSMA training or equivalent experience • Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations and SOP requirements • Management experience is required. • Detail oriented with consultative approach to build teamwork. • Strong working knowledge of FDA/regulations, SSOP, and SOP requirements • HACCP Certified • Meticulous attention to detail including strong analytical, writing, math, and communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. • Proficient with computers and various software packages Benefits Package: Bonus.
