Lean Manager Position Summary Primary resource for supporting company wide initiatives and lean transformation through the implementation and development of company wide standards. Delivers practical, hands-on training to associates using Six Sigma methodology and tools to eliminate waste in manufacturing and support functions. Measures and reports progress on an on-going basis while training and developing associates in lean methodology. Responsibilities Works with division staff and plant level management on lean implementation using Six Sigma methodology. Ensures the development of a robust Lean Strategy to be implemented division-wide. Develops and coordinates the standardization of manufacturing process to support quality and productivity improvements. Leads PFMEA activities to mitigate failures in the manufacturing environment. The Lean Manufacturing Manager will ensure adherence to company standards enabling progression of the Lean Journey for multiple-sites, supporting Plant Lean Leaders and Manufacturing Engineers through required and special team meetings. Provides high level of technical and operational recommendations in meeting productivity, material control, product quality, and customer service goals. Helps develop Plant Lean Leaders with an emphasis on championing the company’s goals, objectives, and implementation plans relative to the Lean Journey. Communicates the status of all Lean efforts to the Director of Operations. Provides documentation of results and benefits achieved. Shares “best practice” methods and ideas with Director of Operations. Responsible for championing and leading lean initiatives by organizing associates in value stream mapping and continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste in all office, factory and support functions. Qualifications Minimum of a BSME or related four year technical degree is required with a minimum of five years of manufacturing experience demonstrating a self-starting and hands-on quality. Six Sigma Green Belt (Black Belt Preferred). A good understanding of Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, Five S’s, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma and Communication Tools, Statistical Problem Solving, ISO, QS9000 or similar. Has successfully led a minimum of ten (10) Kaizen events within a manufacturing environment. Has participated in numerous other Kaizen events preferably in both the manufacturing and office areas. Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean enterprise. Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment. Good presentation skills to effectively share the success and ideas of the company. Strong knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes, fixturing, tooling, EH&S and developing standard work around each of these functional disciplines. Transfers the ownership of Lean principles to facility leadership.
