We are now seeking a Controls Programmer to support our technical team and ensure our automated solutions run optimally. Responsibilities The Controls Programming position at Nelson Integrated in Meridian, Idaho, entails a dynamic set of key responsibilities crucial to the success of our Controls team. The selected candidate will be primarily responsible for PLC programming, demonstrating proficiency in languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block. They will actively contribute to controls design and implementation, troubleshoot control systems, and engage in collaborative efforts to enhance control system functionality. Additionally, the role involves application experience across a diverse range of Nelson Integrated operations, including case packing with robotics, collating conveyor applications, MDR conveyor applications, product sortation, palletizing, pick and place with robotics, vision-based inspection systems, and more. The Controls Programmer will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations, engaging in project control design, collaborating on project controls, and participating in cross-training initiatives covering PLC, robotics, and controls design. This multifaceted position is integral to our commitment to innovation and efficiency in automation solutions. PLC Programming Controls Design and Implementation Controls Troubleshooting Control System Collaboration On a day-to-day basis, your role will be doing the PLC programming, project Control Design, Project Controls Collaboration, and cross-training on PLC, Robotics, and Controls Design. Skills The Controls Programming position at Nelson Integrated demands a skill set that aligns with the complex and dynamic nature of our controls and automation projects. The ideal candidate should possess a solid educational background in engineering, programming, and controls training. Proficiency in PLC programming languages, including Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and a familiarity with Function Block, is essential. Expertise in PLC/HMI software such as Studio 5000, Factory Talk, and Ignition is a prerequisite. The candidate should demonstrate a proven track record in applying these skills to diverse applications, including case packing with robotics, collating conveyor applications, MDR conveyor applications, palletizing, pick and place with robotics, and vision-based inspection systems. Bonus skills, including robot programming (ABB, KUKA, Staubli, Fanuc), safety system design, vision software integration, multi-axis motion control, and project management or team leadership, will set the candidate apart. Proficiency in Excel is also valued. This position requires a versatile skill set to navigate the intricacies of controls engineering and contribute to our commitment to innovation and excellence in automation solutions.
