Interconnection Engineer - Solar

Position Overview The position will be responsible for supporting solar, storage, and hybrid projects from market review and greenfield origination through interconnection agreement at multiple ISOs including PJM, MISO, SPP, and NYISO. Role will support interconnection process tracking, ISO report evaluation and coordination with utilities and EPC team during project construction. Other responsibilities include grid research and utility rules/tariffs analysis, creation of project single line diagrams or other documents required for interconnection application submissions, assisting to manage and track interconnection process – from filing through GIA; managing interconnection studies, deposits and data requirements; assisting in managing external consultant work products and maintaining internal data and reporting on interconnection statuses. The Interconnection Engineer should have a general knowledge of the electrical grid’s generation, transmission, and protection systems from an engineering perspective. The Interconnection Engineer will report to the Interconnection Vice President and will also work closely with the Origination, Development and Management teams. Key Responsibilities: Preparing and submitting interconnection applications for solar projects Preparing single line diagrams, site plans, and preliminary layouts Managing large number of project applications, tracking progress and milestones Understanding multiple utilities’ interconnection processes Liaising and communicating with utilities on an ongoing basis Managing interconnection milestones for internal reporting Working with Origination and Development team members to help them understand interconnection constraints Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with emphasis in power systems preferred Alternative engineering disciples with background in power systems will be considered 0-4 years of industry-related or transferable experience Experience with transmission or distribution planning software Experience with GIS systems and software Familiarity with basic coding Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication skills required Proactive in identifying and addressing issues and developing corrective action plans Experience with AutoCAD, PVSYST, PVCASE or other industry specific software a plus Benefits Company bonus eligible Company sponsored medical, dental, and vision.
