Automation Engineer (Instrumentation & Controls) – Contract Location: [North Carolina] Duration: [6 months] Work Schedule: Full-time, On-Site Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer with expertise in Instrumentation & Controls to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have experience with control systems like DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, or similar, within a life sciences or pharmaceutical environment. This role involves configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting automation systems to ensure seamless plant operations and compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities: Design, configure, and implement control systems and automation processes, with hands-on experience in DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent systems. Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on instrumentation and control systems, ensuring continuous operation and minimal downtime. Develop and maintain automation documentation, including system configuration, calibration procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, maintenance) to ensure control systems meet production requirements and regulatory standards. Perform system integration, installation, and commissioning of control systems, instrumentation, and associated equipment. Conduct system upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting to improve overall reliability and efficiency. Manage and maintain alarm and control loops for automation systems, optimizing their performance and minimizing the risk of process deviations. Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as FDA, cGMP, and other life sciences standards. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Instrumentation & Controls engineering, particularly in automation systems like DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens, or similar. Proven experience with control systems and automation tools in a life sciences, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing setting. Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMI, and process control systems. Familiarity with process control standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems. Experience with process documentation, including configuration, system upgrades, and change control. Preferred Qualifications: Certification or training in DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or equivalent. Experience in the life sciences or pharmaceutical industry. Familiarity with control system cybersecurity, and ensuring automation systems meet regulatory and IT security requirements. Experience with data analysis and optimization of control systems for continuous improvement.
