Responsibilities: Travel with applicable Clarience sales team members to key customers to understand customer operational issues and identify potential Road Ready solutions. If current Road Ready device/solution does not exist, develop ideas/concepts for review with Road Ready commercial and technical teams to determine feasibility and potential business case. Develop relationships with commercial and technical OEM Fleet customers. Act as liaison between key external customers and internal Road Ready teams. Listen, understand and act as the voice of customer. Identify customer’s needs and sales opportunities to help future growth. Gather research information, confirm specifications, standards, and changes required to make or improve present Road Ready products. Report or present information and new ideas to be implemented into new and existing services, products, or equipment. Develop understanding of all existing Road Ready partner technology functionality, installation and operation. Function as Subject Matter Expert on partner equipment in support of commercial, technical and technical support teams. Develop understanding of firmware structure and logic. Collaborate with Systems Engineering to develop and release Life-Cycle Management firmware updates. Work closely with API architects and platform administrators for solution development. This would include participating in functional, regression, and load testing. Participate in new partner development with Clarience Research & Digital team. Develop understanding of partner hardware functionality, installation and interface with Road Ready hardware. Collaborate with OEM and Fleet installation personnel (Engineering, operators, etc.) to ensure device and/or kit installation process is optimized. Travel to OEM and Fleet customers to lead initial installation of new devices and/or kits. Provide training and field support in addition to monitoring and recommending improvements to increase installation efficiency. When possible, complete an on-site installation dry run with actual or simulated hardware to ensure a seamless installation process. Perform technical and/or product training for commercial and technical teams at targeted accounts. Complete detailed documentation of field travel in accordance with internal procedures. Installation reports, training records, opportunities, etc. must be documented and stored in approved location. Monitor competitors to assist in Road Ready product planning and engineering initiatives to ensure Road Ready continues as the market leader in trailer telematics. Assist with market research (surveys, discovery calls, social media, competitive analysis, etc.) of the telematics industry, as requested. Provide design, specification and product definition support to Product engineering and digital team. Provide critical design input from customer reviews/discussions and recommend design changes or enhancements. Coordinate, plan and lead field test activities for new equipment, hardware and firmware. Field testing plan must include quantifiable metrics developed with support of lab and R&D personnel and result in final validation report in accordance with department procedures. Draft technical guides, installation instructions and any applicable technical documents related to new devices, kits, applications, partner equipment, etc. Collaborate with Road Ready Marketing personnel to create final, customer ready technical documents. Maintain technical documents in accordance with department procedures. Keep current in applicable engineering and software fields. Stay informed and aware of latest industry practices and developments in science and technology. Other duties as assigned Education Requirements: 4 year engineering degree in any of the following disciplines: Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with other technical degrees will be considered based on relevant work experience. Experience Requirements: Prefer candidates with at least 3-5 years work experience in Application Engineering and/or related industry. Prefer candidates with formal problem-solving skills/experience. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Hands-on role, must be comfortable working in field (installs, troubleshooting) on tractor trailers. Mechanical aptitude – comfortable working with wiring and power tools as needed. One to three years of relevant technical and customer support experience. Common knowledge of 12 VDC wiring and cellular network operations. Knowledge of API data utilization through 3rd party groups. Travel Requirements: Travel required up to 50% of the time
