Our client, a leading custom metal fabricator, is committed to delivering high-quality products at competitive prices with timely delivery. Specializing in metals such as steel, stainless steel, brass, and aluminum, their facility can handle projects ranging from large, unique fabrications up to three stories tall to small-scale, short-run items. They are currently seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to ensure all products meet stringent quality standards and specifications. Key Responsibilities: Daily Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough inspections on the shop floor to ensure products adhere to contract specifications, industry standards, and internal quality guidelines. Address quality concerns proactively to minimize defects. Review Specifications and Procedures: Analyze shop drawings and technical documents to determine appropriate inspection procedures and measuring instruments. Manage Non-Conformances: Track in-process repairs and non-conformances, documenting corrective actions. Monitor and report on the cost of poor quality to identify improvement areas. Material Inspection: Inspect incoming materials to ensure compliance with quality standards. Communicate promptly with suppliers to resolve any issues. Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with vendors to resolve quality-related issues and enhance supply chain quality processes. Welder Training and Qualification: Conduct training programs to ensure adherence to quality standards and oversee welder qualification testing. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate quality control logs and generate detailed reports on inspections, testing results, and corrective actions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to address quality concerns and implement process improvements. Required Skills: Welding Standards Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the AWS D1.1 Welding Code. CWI Certification (Preferred): Certified Weld Inspector accreditation from the American Welding Society. Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents accurately. Quality Control Experience: Proven experience in welding inspection and tolerance inspection in a manufacturing environment. Education: Minimum of a 2-year trade school diploma specific to welding. Preferred Skills: Industry Experience: At least 5 years in the metalworking industry. Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for precise measurements and accurate documentation. Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers. Pay range and compensation package - Up $40 an hour (negotiable based on experience)
