PD/Mechanical Validation Engineer

Job Description: Responsible for developing and executing mechanical validation tests on wearables products in the development phase. Convert mechanical requirements/specs into specific test cases to ensure the design meets those requirements. Create testing approach with standard operation procedures (SOPs), identify test equipment required, any special fixtures, and know how to confirm the test equipment meets the measurement capabilities. Design mechanical and/or electromechanical fixtures/systems for internal system validation testing of consumer wearable device. Procure required fixture parts, assemble, and validate the test setup. Know how to perform and execute a gage R&R. Approx 50/50 split between validation and fixture design projects Drive and execute mechanical validation to meet key deadlines and priority goals Develop specifications and project plans to execute designs by working closely with product designers and/or cross functional teams to incorporate all requirements into specifications. Ability to conduct detailed design work, create 3D models, drawings and drive design reviews. Technical Requirements Fluent in NX and advanced surfacing techniques Proven experience with mechanical testing and validation methods Expertise in various manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, sheet metal stamping, forging, die casting etc. Understanding of tolerances and tolerance analysis as it relates to design and testing Strong understanding of product life cycle management (especially early stage development and production and launch) Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of experience Fluent with Siemens NX for CAD Strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. Experience in technical documentation and report generation. Expected to write technical reports and present technical reviews. Desirable Skills and Characteristics Past experience in making production drawings for consumer electronics in NX Ability to quickly make tradeoff decisions to drive progress based on engineering fundamentals. Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills. Experience methods for testing and validating mechanical design Mass production experience Able to work under tight time constraints to meet schedules and manufacturing deadlines. Flexible with ability to work in a dynamic and rapid-paced workplace with minimal supervision. Data analysis and visualization experience (matlab, python, JMP)
