You will play a critical role in providing legal advice to business partners regarding Guardian’s adoption, implementation, and oversight of artificial intelligence (“AI”) and predictive models, as well as our use of external consumer data and information sources (“ECDIS”).A successful candidate will have excellent research and organizational skills, as you will be required to understand and manage the laws and regulations affecting insurers’ use of AI and ECDIS in a constantly evolving and high-profile regulatory environment. The ability to influence and drive proactive partnership in a changing business environment is critical. You will develop cross-business connections, provide industry perspective and best practices guidance while considering long-term outcomes and the needs of partners/clients when providing advice. You embrace ambiguity, complexity, uncertainty, and volatility.A strategic analytical person able to simplify strategic success and innovation.An effective communicator, with a proven history of influencing cross-functional teams and establishing and lead strong relationships with critical partners and executive stakeholders.Able to effectively convey ideas and engage in meaningful conversations.Provide advice and counsel to business on AI- and ECDIS-driven strategies and innovation initiatives in their organizations.Participate in AI and ECDIS forums, build partnerships internally across Guardian, and help ensure that the responsible use of AI and ECDIS are embedded in Guardian’s fundamental business practices and policies.Assist in driving cross-functional engagement across the enterprise, including among senior leadership to promote the responsible use of AI and ECDIS.Advise and assist with the implementation of new AI and ECDIS laws and regulations.Represent the Data Strategy and Security practice group as a key advisor to stakeholders to establish, inform, and maintain company-wide AI and ECDIS policies.Participate in the development, rollout and management of AI impact assessments and model/data inventory updates.Provide effective, prompt compliance advice and support business units in operationalizing AI and ECDIS compliance, rectifying problems, and responding to emerging challenges.Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes.Review and advise on AI and ECDIS requirements, as well as other data strategy and security terms, involving commercial and vendor contract engagements.You have:2- 6 years of experience, preferably in connection with AI, ECDIS and/or the financial services industry. This is an opportunity for an attorney to grow their career within Guardian Life.JD and licensed to practice law in New York required.Strong legal research and organizational skills.Ability to address complex and challenging issues and communicate effectively with business leaders at all levels to optimize risk management, productivity, and communication.Ability to work in a dynamic, hands-on, challenging environment and respond to questions from business areas and a complex subsidiary organization.Respect for diversity and ideas of others, willingness to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment and motivation skills required.Demonstrated leadership ability in an organizational setting, corporation integrity and strong interpersonal skills are essential to success.Strong project management skills.Excellent analytical ability, problem-solving and leadership skills.Outstanding written and verbal communications skills are essential.Location /TravelHybrid role: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH, Hudson Yards, NYCTravel to Guardian offices as requested by the People LeaderSalary Range:$148,940.00 - $244,685.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
