Position Summary:
The Metro Youth & Adult Sports Director will provide leadership and supervision to Sports Coordinators and Assistants and direct support of sports programs in Salem and Woodburn areas as well as providing support to Coordinators for Monmouth/Independence and Silver Falls Branches. This role will have a direct focus on sports safety, recruitment of participants, program development, retention, staff development, volunteer coordination, fundraising, and customer service. This role will ensure that our YMCA Sports Programs operate and expand effectively and efficiently, while building positive relationships with our schools, participants, staff, and community.

Salary Description
$50,000-$66,000

Entry Requirements
- 2-3 years leadership experience in the field of physical education, sports or related field preferred
- Obtain First Aid & CPR Certification*
- Mandatory Abuse Reporting Training*
- Concussion Certificates*
- 3 years management experience - preferred
- Must be willing to work the occasional evening and weekend.
- All candidates must have reliable transportation. Job offers are contingent upon completion of a rigorous criminal background check.
Essential Functions
- Oversee and manage Sports Coordinators in Salem and Woodburn, facilitates communication between the Coordinators, their Branch Directors, and the COO.
- Provides support and oversight to MIY and Silver Falls programming to maintain consistency across the association.
- Facilitating programming when Salem and Woodburn Sport Coordinators are unavailable or as needed.
- Facilitate weekly meetings for Sport Coordinators to keep tasks and duties clear, to review weekly operations of sports, clarify rules, trouble shoot problems that arise, and maintain long-term vision for Y Sports Programs.
- Be available to Sports Coordinators for any problems that arise.
- Support Sports Coordinators in the hiring process.
- Train new Sports Coordinators and ensure they have all the resources they need to be successful.
- Create a yearly sports schedule for each branch and game/season schedule for each upcoming sport.
- Facilitate, delegate, and approve all programming and communications for Y sports including digital and printed materials, maintaining Y branding.
- Constantly re-evaluate programs to enhance or determine if they should continue.
- Create and maintain easy to use, easy to access coach resources for each sport.
- Monitor all volunteer coaches, ensuring all requirements are met and training standards are upheld.
- Facilitate and delegate ref training for each branch to ensure a consistent standard.
- With Sports Coordinators, identify and obtain new sponsors and work closely with Resource Development to ensure we are honoring our sponsors well and utilizing resources effectively.
- Create a budget with each Sports Coordinator and ensure the upcoming fiscal year is planned well and all staff, registrations, equipment needs, and sponsorships are accounted for.
- Create, and help Sports Coordinators maintain, a standard of inventory and equipment check-out to teams and coaches.
- Manage all orders to ensure quality of purchase.
- Create and maintain sports rule documents and player, parent, and coach codes of conduct.
- Manage collaborations with outside sport entities, schools, and facilities, ensuring Y sports is upholding agreements and contracts.
- Build relationships with sports leaders across Marion and Polk Counties.
Physical/Mental Requirements
- Must be physically capable of observing and listening for stressful situations.
- Must be physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.
- Must be able to quickly reach a person and/or situation to prevent harm.
