Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Title: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist Location: Vernon Hills, IL Hire Type: Direct-hire, Onsite Target Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000/year base Job Summary: The EHS Specialist will develop and maintain safety and environmental programs to ensure regulatory compliance in a manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include conducting audits, risk assessments, training, and incident investigations to promote a safe work environment. The role involves working with all departments to improve safety performance and foster a safety-first culture. Job Duties: Implement safety policies, conduct audits, lead incident investigations, ensure PPE compliance, and manage emergency preparedness plans. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, manage waste disposal, monitor environmental data, and lead sustainability efforts. Deliver safety training, promote a safety culture, and support employee wellness programs. Maintain EHS records, submit reports, and ensure regulatory compliance. Collaborate with teams on projects to enhance safety and reduce environmental impact. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field. 3 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant regulations. CSP, CIH, or similar certification preferred. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS software. Ability to work onsite in Vernon Hills, IL (must be local to Chicago area).
