Job Description: Engineer - Engineering and Design, Tank Fabrication Location: Rincon, GA, relocation assistance and competitive salary offered. Company: Virginia Transformer Corp Position Overview Virginia Transformer is seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Engineer - Engineering and Design, Tank Fabrication to join our team at the Rincon, GA facility. This role supports the tank fabrication department by providing technical expertise in the design and engineering of tanks for transformers. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely production of fabricated tanks that meet customer specifications and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Design and Engineering Support: Develop and refine tank designs, ensuring manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with engineering standards. Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation for tank fabrication. Perform structural and thermal analysis to validate design integrity. Collaboration with Fabrication Teams: Work closely with the fabrication team to address technical issues during production. Provide guidance on material selection, welding processes, and other fabrication techniques. Partner with planners and project managers to align design activities with production schedules. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement design improvements to enhance tank performance and reduce manufacturing complexity. Investigate and resolve engineering issues, recommending corrective actions as needed. Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, customer specifications, and safety regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable engineering codes and certifications. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed technical reports, design specifications, and fabrication instructions. Assist in creating and updating standard operating procedures and design guidelines. Qualifications and Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience: 5 years of experience in engineering and design within fabrication, manufacturing, or a related industry. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and structural analysis tools. Experience in transformer manufacturing or heavy equipment fabrication is a plus. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes, welding techniques, and material properties. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis). Key Competencies: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy. Effective communication and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
