Job Summary The Controller is a critical financial leader responsible for managing the accounting operations of the organization, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role ensures the accuracy of financial records, establishes robust internal controls, and provides insights to support business decisions. The Controller plays a key role in driving efficiency and ensuring the organization’s financial health. Key Responsibilities Financial Management Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance. Budgeting & Forecasting Collaborate with leadership to prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Analyze financial performance against budget and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency. Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure financial stability. Cost Accounting & Analysis Supervise cost accounting activities, including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis. Partner with operations to analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings. Prepare financial models and analysis to support strategic decisions. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations and financial reporting standards. Manage external audits, preparing schedules and ensuring timely responses to auditor requests. Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards. Team Leadership Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of work produced by the finance and accounting staff. Systems & Process Improvement Evaluate and optimize financial systems and processes for greater efficiency and accuracy. Lead or support the implementation of ERP systems and other financial tools. Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline accounting operations. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure financial alignment with operational goals. Provide insights and reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making. Serve as a point of contact for financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications Education Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred). Professional Certification CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred. Experience 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or controller role. Strong background in cost accounting, financial reporting, and compliance. Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or similar industries is a plus. Skills & Competencies Expertise in GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting standards. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities. Work Environment Primarily office-based within a corporate or plant environment. May require occasional travel to other facilities or corporate headquarters.
