Motor Equipment Operator I

The Sewer District is accepting applications for the position of Motor Equipment Operator II. The job duties of Motor Equipment Operator II is operation of trucks, including those over 26,000 lbs. GVWR, for hauling materials, carrying workers and equipment to jobs, carting debris for disposal, etc.; Operate similar size trucks and snow plows including rotary plows, for clearing snow and spreading salt and sand; Operate mowers, compressors, rollers of any weight, front end loaders, street sweepers, motor graders, small backhoes, belt loaders and similar heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of roads, sidewalks, culverts, bridges, drainage systems, landscaped areas, etc.; Performs routine equipment maintenance duties and makes minor mechanical repairs; Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled laboring tasks as required; May tow vehicles of more than 10,000 lbs. of GVWR such as “dump trailers” and blacktop rollers with hydraulic wheels, if appropriately licensed. Supervision is received from a higher-level position. During periods of emergency work, employees in this class may be required to work at other than normal working hours. Does related work as required Minimum Qualifications: Three (3) years of motor vehicle driving experience, six (6) months of which must have included training and/or experience in the operation of trucks over 26,000 lbs GVWR or in the operation of at least two (2) of the following: motor graders, front end loaders, small backhoes or street sweepers Other Requirements and Information: Possession of a valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of motorized equipment to be operated which must be maintained throughout the course of employment in this title If assigned to drive heavy motor equipment, as defined by the Commercial Motor Safety Act, incumbents are required to possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with required endorsements Medical clearance for the use of respiratory equipment Salary and Benefits: $22.16 Hourly Salary 40 Hour work week Medical, Dental and Vision Time off including vacation, personal and holiday time New York State Pension eligibility Other benefits, including, but not limited to deferred compensation, tuition reimbursement, leadership and other professional development training How to Apply: Interested candidates should email a completed Rockland County application or send a resume to: langanjco.rockland.ny.us
