Terry Family Funeral Home, is currently seeking a Full Time Apprentice Funeral Director/Embalmer to provide customer service in all areas of helping client families following the loss of a loved one. Provides exemplary personalized and professional service. Interacts with the family to fulfill death care needs. Ensures customer needs are addressed. Please see required qualifications below before you apply Specific Responsibilities Include: Learns to arrange and conduct funeral and memorial ceremonies in a professional, organized and caring manner consistent with company policies and procedures Learns/performs embalming services Adheres to all company and regulatory requirements Works on an on-call schedule Cares for the deceased in a respectful manner while performing a variety of tasks which may include: Removals and transfers Lifting of deceased human remains Performs technical embalming services and cosmetology Dressing and casketing Coordinating and assisting with funeral service and visitation Delivery of flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families Performs or assists with funeral services by: Driving funeral vehicles Ushering and assisting at chapel and church services and at the cemetery Delivering flowers, caskets, urn, photos and other personal keepsakes or mementos of client families Assists with the maintenance of vehicles, the facility and property Receive caskets and other funeral home supplies as well as place into inventory and carrying out any other responsibilities that may be reasonably delegated by management Requirements & Qualifications: REQUIRED: Ability to obtain an apprenticeship license from the State of Oregon Mortuary & Cemetery Board. REQUIRED : Graduation from an accredited school of mortuary science. REQUIRED: Transportation, Good driving record and valid driver’s license required. This position demands a high level of commitment, including reliable and consistent attendance to meet the needs of the families we serve. Professional/Conservative dress code Experience: Previous funeral home experience a plus. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Reliable Transportation, Good driving record and valid driver’s license Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills High level of compassion and integrity Superior problem solving skills Ability to multi task and set priorities Detail oriented MS Office Professional and team player Compensation: Competitive salary, paid time off, paid holidays, health/dental/vision, 401K, (This position is for the candidate to fulfill the apprenticeship program necessary for full licensure. This position is not guaranteed to merge into a licensed funeral director/embalmer position.)
