Field Service Engineer - 3D Printing

Location/Remote: Onsite in Cedar Park, TX (i.e., 5 days onsite/week) Travel: up to 10% travel Employment Type: Full-time / Direct Hire / Permanent Compensation: up to $140k salary (depending on experience) Benefits: medical, dental, vision, LTD/STD, HSA/FSA, term life, AD&D, and supplemental health insurances (e.g., Aflac) for all employees (and their families if needed); 5 weeks PTO; 401(k); paid maternity/paternity leave We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer with a strong background in 3D printing, specifically in metal additive manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with OEM printers and be proficient in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting advanced 3D printing equipment. This role requires a deep understanding of Powder Bed Fusion and Direct Metal Lasering (DML) or Direct Metal Sintering (DMS) processes. Duties and Responsibilities: Operate and Maintain Equipment: Utilize your expertise in Digital Media Asset Management (DMAM) equipment to ensure continuous operation (24/7) of the DMAM production line, maintaining high efficiency and minimizing downtime. Field Service Experience: Provide exceptional field service support to clients, ensuring optimal performance of 3D printing equipment. OEM Printer Expertise: Work with leading OEM printers such as GE Additive, Concept Laser, Velo3D, and EOS energy, performing maintenance, calibrations, and repairs. Preventative Maintenance: Execute preventative maintenance tasks to maximize the lifespan and performance of 3D printing equipment. Calibration and Troubleshooting: Calibrate optics and other components, troubleshoot issues, and ensure printers are operating at peak performance. Metal Additive Experience: Leverage your experience with metal additive manufacturing processes to support and improve client operations. Direct Metal Lasering/Sintering: Apply your knowledge of DML/DMS processes to provide technical support and solutions. Powder Bed Fusion: Utilize your expertise in Powder Bed Fusion technology to assist clients in achieving their additive manufacturing goals. Technician Training and Support: Conduct training sessions for technicians to enhance their operational efficiency and provide ongoing technical support. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's in Engineering, or an Associate's degree with 2 years of technical experience, or a High School Diploma with 5 years of field service or electrical/mechanical technician experience. 3 years of experience working with direct metal LPBF (laser powder bed fusion) machines (e.g., DML, DMS, DMLS, SLS) Proven experience in operating and maintaining 3D printing equipment, especially in a field service capacity. Strong understanding of OEM printers, preventative maintenance, and calibration of optics. Hands-on experience with metal additive manufacturing processes, including DML and DMS. Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and provide training.
