We are looking for our next Chief Financial Officer to join our senior leadership team. Reporting directly to the President, this key financial professional will help guide the College to continued growth in financial stability and sustainability.
This is truly a unique opportunity! Valley is currently designing and rolling out the next evolution in post-secondary education. We have had record new student enrollment over the past two years, combined with increased profitability, improved student retention and graduation rates, and enhanced student academic performance.
We have a groundbreaking 5-year plan that brings a new vision and model to the traditional liberal arts college market.
Located in Marshall, Missouri, we are looking for a fellow visionary who can help us experience success daily, improving student lives for today and tomorrow.
As a teaching institution, the college combines career readiness with the personalized experience of a small liberal arts institution. The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for leading the institution’s financial operations and strategic vision. The CFO will also build and lead a high-performing finance team and oversee a multi-year financial planning effort to advance the college’s long-term goals and growth. Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have a master’s in accounting and/or finance, or an MBA with an accounting or finance concentration. CPA preferred.
Knowledge and Qualifications
Extensive experience in all accounting functions, financial planning and budgeting, through knowledge of Nonprofit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including fund accounting, net assets with donor restrictions, endowments, capital campaigns and fixed asset additions, billing and grant funding, and financial statement preparation.
Design of strong internal control procedures for accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
Provide full support to the president and cabinet, monitor financial position, and keep cash position and ratio compliance in controls.
Provide timely and transparent short- and long-term budget forecasts and scenario analyses, and strategies to address the financial challenges in the post-pandemic environment.
Maintain and expand relationships with financial institutions, locate additional cash resources and opportunities for budget savings.
Partner with admissions team on building net student revenue strategies for enrollment and monitor NSR levels.
Prepare annual operating and capital expense budgets with department heads, and provide solutions to department heads in navigating the college’s operations.
Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department, Student Financial Services Department (Business and Financial Aid offices), and the Human Resources Department.
Monitor internal control procedures for review of student billing statements, ensuring efficient allocation of scholarship resources and error prevention; reinforce and amend financial policies.
Monitor the collection of student receivables and DOE compliance of the financial aid department.
Advise on financial literacy projects for students and parents in collaboration with other departments.
Facilitate the implementation of the new student information system, ensuring proper integration with accounting software.
