Summary of Position Mission: We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer specializing in CNC to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the growth and development of our manufacturing processes. This individual will work closely with our New Product Development (NPD) and Sustainment Engineering groups to create programs for CNC Mills, Lathes, EDM, and other similar equipment to produce consistent precision components and assemblies. The role requires hands-on technical ability, critical thinking skills, and the application of industry techniques to develop or modify fixtures, transforming raw materials into finished parts. Responsibilities: Develop CNC programs using CAM software based on engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical specifications. Apply proper machining strategies, toolpaths, cutting parameters, and tooling to optimize machining processes. Utilize knowledge of CNC machining techniques to generate efficient and reliable programs for complex geometry and tight tolerances. Design tooling, fixtures, and work holding solutions to support CNC machining operations. Select cutting tools, inserts, and tool holders based on material properties and machining requirements. Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to refine tooling designs for cost-effectiveness and performance. Analyze and optimize machining processes to improve cycle times, reduce scrap rates, and increase throughput. Implement Lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity in CNC machining operations. Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure machined components meet specified tolerances and quality standards. Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools. Create and maintain documentation, including CNC programs, setup instructions, tooling lists, and process documentation. Provide training and technical support to CNC machinists and operators. Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the machining team. Adhere to all employment and safety policies and practices. Maintain a clean workstation and department, actively participating in the 5S process. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications & Knowledge Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years of experience in CNC programming roles, with proficiency in CAM software (e.g., HSMWorks, Mastercam, Gibbs CAM, Edge CAM). Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, including G-code programming and machining parameters optimization. Experience operating various CNC machine control types. Knowledge of machining processes and materials, including metal cutting and tooling choice. Familiarity with CAD/CAM integration, CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor), and GD&T. Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is highly desirable. General computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite preferred. General mechanical ability and experience with hand tools. Ability to follow directions and maintain punctuality and attendance.
