Vanderlande's Warehouse Solutions Engineering Department is responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of Material Handling Systems, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortationsystems for our customersthroughout North America. In this position, you will be working with an engineering project team in the development of an automated warehouse or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements, is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation, can be installed with efficiency, and maintain excellent communication with the site team.
Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also havingthe soft skills to collaborate with the engineering team. It also involves working closely withstakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities, improve processes andsatisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills, creativity, strong interpersonalskills, drive, and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attemptto solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Preparing structural steel design models using Revit
Designing header steel for supporting Material Handling Equipment
Preparing design calculations using RISA software and performing hand calculations for products and connections
Preparing and coordinating Structural approval drawings
Verify accuracy and completeness of all technical documentation required for the project
Assisting with preparation of construction/installation drawings
Presenting analysis/design results to Senior Engineer and Project engineering team
Ensuring that design complies with building codes and standards
Independently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance or guidance
Review contract documents to be familiar with project requirements
Attend project meetings; may lead coordination/ BIM meetings
Write and review requests for information (RFI)
Resolve engineering design issues independently
Assist others with resolving engineering design issues
Lead and coordinate between Vanderlande project teams and different suppliers worldwide
Requirements:
Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Emphasis (Master's degree preferred)
Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in designing structures
Strong understanding of engineering mechanics and design fundamentals
Intermediate skills in RISA Structural Analysis software preferred
Knowledge of steelwork manufacturing, installation process and quality
Knowledge of costs related to design and execution of the steel structures
Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) and
Proficient in structural design software (RISA, Staad.Pro, etc.)
Basic understanding of Material Handling Systems on a system level
Knowledge of scope management and project planning
Able to perform health and safety risk analysis on component and system level
Ability to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is natural
Strong communicator, able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverables
Able to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities, while maintaining a firm grasp of the details

Ability to align schedule based on project needs - Monday to Friday, 8-5pm EST United States (preferred)
