Job Description:

Brindley Engineering is currently looking for a detail-oriented Piping Stress Engineer to join our talented mechanical team. The ideal candidate will be a reliable, creative team player who performs piping stress analysis while maintaining the codes, standards, practices, piping, pipe supports, and equipment drawings.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• With minimal supervision, perform static and dynamic piping stress analysis (using CAESAR II Software) and equipment nozzle load calculations, including cyclic, high-pressure, and high-temperature systems.

• Develop stress reports determining the reactions of piping on equipment and structures

• Collaboration with Piping, Process, and Structural Engineering groups.

• Responsible for pipe support component selection and pipe support design criteria.

• Review proposed piping support systems, identify issues, and recommend appropriate, cost-effective solutions.

• Consult with client and others on field-related issues, including follow-up reports or design modifications.

• Perform field verification to provide clarification and interpretations of drawings and specifications.

• Participate in system design activities such as:

o Prepare requisitions for procurement of Piping Specialty items, expansion joints, and pipe supports.

o Involved in bid evaluation of requisitioned components.

o Review and approve contractor documents and drawings.

• Interface and exchange engineering details between external contacts, including equipment suppliers, clients, and installation contractors.

• Manage workload to meet project commitments.

• For experienced engineers (5+ years), work typically requires reviewing stress analysis done by others, but sometimes also requires performing stress analysis.

• Experienced engineers (5+ years) expected to lead stress analysis projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

• Experience:

Min Yr = 2 Max Yr = 18+

• Licensure:

P.E. Preferred

• Technical Skills:

Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.1 required

Knowledge of API 510/570/650/653, ASME VIII Div I&2, Finite Element Analysis software such as ANSYS or FEPIPE, AutoCAD, Revit, & Bluebeam preferred

• Management:

Experience mentoring and leading small teams required for experienced engineers (5+ years)

• Other Skills:

Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
