Full-Time, Non-Union, Non-Exempt Position

$20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week

BASIC FUNCTION OF FATHERHOOD SPECIALIST:

To engage and empower fathers and provide support to them in building healthy relationships with their families.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF FATHERHOOD SPECIALIST:
  • Work with local Department of Children and Families office as referral source for identified fathers
  • Outline program activities and enroll fathers into program
  • Maintain relationships with Community Partners
  • Implement a process which assists fathers in assessing their needs and strengths
  • Coordinate program services for which fathers may be eligible
  • Build and maintain caseload to meet funding requirements 55- 60 per year
  • Facilitation of weekly workshops designed to strengthen the fathers relationships with their family
  • Weekly case management meetings with participants to identify barriers and develop self sufficiency goals
  • Support the empowerment of fathers to be their own advocates with educational institutions, social service agencies and the business community
  • Represent agency at community related forums
  • Utilize program database to track customer progress and provide update reports to Program Supervisor
  • Develop Contacts with local court and support enforcement system to streamline services for fathers
  • In town travel to court/community partners as needed
  • Weekly Meetings with Residential Manager to discuss program activities
Requirements

REQUIREMENTS OF FATHERHOOD SPECIALIST:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field. Similar combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience:

2 to 4 years of social services and/or working with families to strengthen relationships and resolve conflicts.

Job Skills:
  • Strong Written and Oral Communication skills
  • Conflict Resolution/Mediation
  • Strong Computer Skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
  • Knowledge of the social services available in the community
Licenses /certifications:

CT Drivers License/Access to privately maintained vehicle.
