Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer serves at the key interface with the supplier and is responsible for the promotion and enforcement of quality standards within the QMC supply base. This position provides technical supplier management leadership supporting development and on-going supplier relationships. The Supplier Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) of supplier
  • Communicates production quality requirements and expectations to the suppliers
  • Management/Escalation in case supplier APQP deviates from timing, cost, or quality
  • Conduct Supplier visits/audits, developing relationships that will help to reduce quality costs, and ensure Suppliers don't pose a risk to QMC.
  • Manage all assigned suppliers in aspects of Quality Management for the production team (i.e., kick off meetings, check fixture review/approvals, dimensional and appearance conformance, Process Capability, APQP, PPAP, Gage R, Run at rate-line speed demonstrations for the project supply base, etc.)
  • Provide quality related project updates and feedback to Management
  • Timely Escalation of Supplier Quality issues to team and Management
  • Responsibility to respond to internal & external customer requests efficiently, and with enthusiasm, ensuring customer has a high level of confidence
  • Support Quality Engineering team with responses in Customer portals if an issue is supplier related
  • Ensure any supplier issues are addressed with proper root cause analysis and corrective actions. Effectiveness of corrective actions must be verified and validated.
  • Responsible for issuing QIR to suppliers for non-conforming parts and ensuring all HBPO costs related to non-conforming parts are recovered from suppliers.
Requirements:
  • A combination of a B.S. Degree (Quality or Engineering degree preferred) and min. 5 years' experience (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards and VDA a plus but not required
  • Core tools, APQP, GD&T, PPAP, and Dimensional analysis
  • Familiar with IATF 16949
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements. Metal stamping experience desired.
