Job Summary
Pipe Welder must have knowledge, skills, and ability to weld, and perform other hot work on piping as required. The pipe welder will be required to pass plate tests in all positions and pipe tests on 6G restricted fix position using SMAW FCAW ang GTAW processes. Maintain a clean work environment while removing debris and inspecting the pipes. You must be able to multi-task and pay great attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Visual acuity must be either 20/20 or correctable to near distance as stipulated using the J-1 letters of a standard Jaeger Chart or equivalent.

Responsibilities
- Set up and the operation of cutting tools and welding machines.
- Study blueprints and engineering drawings to assist with the determination of project task sequences.
- Assist in the assembly, lay out, and examine metal products or stocks to be processed to ensure that client specifications are met.
- Study and provide written text comprehension of applicable Technical Manuals utilized in the AMP United, LLC Structural Department.
- Be able to work at tall heights and in small working spaces in either hot or cold climates.
- Be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
- Tacks and welds pipe.
- Perform or direct all necessary actions to ensure proper and adequate weldments are created per industry and/or Navy standards, the higher standard will be met.
- Create weldments, utilizing a variety of procedures, which must pass visual (VT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (LPT), and/or radiographic inspections (RT), as appropriate.
- Assist in mounting brackets and hangers on walls and ceilings to hold pipes and set sleeves or inserts to provide support for pipes.
- Assist in fitting valves, couplings, or assemblies to tanks, pumps, or systems.
- Assist pipe fitters in the layout, assembly, and installation of piping for air, ammonia, gas, and water systems.
- Cleans work area and maintains work area.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Certificate(s) of completion and passing acceptable welding process course of instruction.
- Certificate(s) of ferrous or non-ferrous material(s) welding qualification from the previous employer.
- Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to draft impromptu field drawings in support of structural work items under contract.
- Ability to identify and use the necessary tools and equipment utilized in spipe fabrication processes.
- Certification of GTAW, SMAW Carbon Steel Plate and GMAW (Flux Core) Carbon Steel Plate, including quarterly updates.
- Current certification reflecting satisfactory completion of Welder's Workmanship Training Course.
- Ability to read and interpret technical publications regarding contractual welding requirements.
