Electrician:
Performs skilled electrical work installing, maintaining, and repairing electric wiring and related apparatus and equipment in the water production and wastewater treatment plants. Works in conjunction with the Chief Plant Operator and Plant Operators to ensure the continued operational success of the plants. This is a skilled, journeyman position, working under the general direction of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent.

This position requires work in both outdoor and indoor environments. Environmental hazards such as high ambient temperatures, heavy rain, strong winds, and other factors are possible. Essential Job Duties
- Reviews blueprints and schematics for new and existing electrical and electronic equipment
- Issues and completes work orders in the SEMS work order system.
- Works with outside contractors when necessary to ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Completes installation, diagnostic, and moderate programming work of variable frequency drives to ensure electrical components maintain operation.
- Completes moderate troubleshooting and repair work in programmable logic controllers often in conjunction with the SCADA Coordinator.
- Often works in conjunction with the Instrumentation Technician to install or troubleshoot components of the instrumentation system.
- Accurately maintains maintenance reports to ensure asset management system integrity.
- May participate in the water/wastewater maintenance division on-call rotation for response to after-hours callbacks.
- Works in conjunction with the SCADA Coordinator to help ensure the County's SCADA communication/alarm system is operating properly.
- Ensures work vehicle is stocked with the necessary tools and parts.
- Ability to follow safe working practices.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. or an equivalent combination of formal education and working experience.
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to understand complex electrical, electronics, and telemetry systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues concerning treatment plant operations and identify and take corrective action
- Working knowledge of relays and telemetry equipment and the ability to make necessary adjustments and repairs
- Knowledge of SCADA system operations.
- Knowledge of motor control centers.
- Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Software and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards associated with electrical and electronic maintenance and ability to comply with safety protocols.
- Knowledge of safety principles associated with electrical and electronic maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to interpret oral, written, and technical information associated with electrical and electronic equipment.
- Familiarity with Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures and Arc-Flash safety prevention.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, contractors, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work alone and with minimal supervision.
