Maintenance-Electrical Department Job Description
Purpose: Perform major electrical repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance on production and plant electrical equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Receive work assignments from the Maintenance Team Leader.
- Set a high standard of demonstrated concern and performance of safe work practices according to plant and industry safety standards.
- Answer calls for electrician tasks as directed by the Maintenance Team Leader and the daily priority list.
- Troubleshoot and repair major breakdowns of production and plant equipment.
- Provide proper follow-up to ensure that problems are fully resolved and do not re-occur.
- Perform preventive maintenance services on scheduled equipment.
- Record and report all work in the established system.
- Execute project work as designated by the supervisor when not attending to calls.
- Repair any defective items removed from equipment at the bench.
- Reorder all used parts and research additional information for parts ordering if necessary.
- Contact outside sources to help diagnose problems when required.
- Review daily work history with the electrician on the next shift.
- Cut costs by substituting components and eliminating troublesome ones where possible.
- Assist all plant personnel in understanding the correct operation of equipment.
- Suggest improvements for current equipment and devices to reduce costs.
- Act as a member of the plant's Emergency Response Team, assisting other maintenance-related crews with tasks such as fire prevention, hazardous waste removal, snow removal, etc.
- Follow Maintenance Department policies and procedures.
- Utilize all available resources to further knowledge of production and building equipment.
- Fill in for the Maintenance Team Leader during their absence.
- Experience in printing, electrical/electronic troubleshooting, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
- Strong reasoning and diagnostic abilities.
- Mechanically inclined with basic math skills and computer knowledge.
- Good understanding of AC and DC motor theory, connections, and three-phase power systems.
- Proficiency in PLC and understanding of AC and DC drives.
- Ability to properly use and read analog and digital test equipment.
- Capable of reading relay logic, schematics, and diagnosing/repairing relay logic circuits.
- Ability to operate lift trucks and man-lift trucks.
- Familiarity with 34 KV electrical distribution safety requirements.
- Understanding and ability to apply the National Electric Code and metric system.
- Ability to size and plan the installation of simple electrical services.
- Familiar with the use of an oscilloscope and European schematics and symbols (German, Italian, Swedish).
- Able to access and understand ladder diagrams of AB SLC500/Control Logix & Siemens PLCs.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
- Two years of vocational school training or equivalent on-the-job training required.
- 2+ years as an Electrician "B" position or equivalent knowledge/experience.
