  • Operates all light and heavy construction equipment for road construction and drainage improvement.
  • Responsible for scheduled maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Sprays Herbicide and insecticide chemicals
  • Assists with construction projects including concrete and asphalt; Patches potholes requiring intense hand work
  • Excavates ditches and set culverts to proper elevations
  • Finishes concrete work and repairs.
  • Performs shop duties and all duties of lower level positions as necessary.
  • May supervise the work of a work crew on a project basis as lead person.
  • Held accountable for all equipment used and uniforms issued.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 2 years job related experience as an equipment operator.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions within time constraints.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to operate required heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of road design and/or drainage channel design construction and maintenance.
  • Good driving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with other employees.
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License.


STARTING SALARY RANGE: $20.10 - $25.13 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
