GEI's Huntington Station, Long Island, New York office is seeking a motivated & experienced Structural Engineer / Project Manager to assist with a variety of projects on Long Island, within the New York City Metro area, and throughout the region. Work will primarily pertain to buildings and other structures, including environmental structures, and parking garages. Work will include structural design and analysis of building systems and other structures, distress analysis, condition surveys, non-destructive testing, structural evaluation and rehabilitation of buildings and other structures.

GEI's Huntington Station, Long Island, New York office is seeking a motivated & experienced Structural Engineer / Project Manager to assist with a variety of projects on Long Island, within the New York City Metro area, and throughout the region. Work will primarily pertain to buildings and other structures, including environmental structures, and parking garages. Work will include structural design and analysis of building systems and other structures, distress analysis, condition surveys, non-destructive testing, structural evaluation and rehabilitation of buildings and other structures.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage and execute projects.
- Prepare proposals and develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Collaborate with technical staff across the company.
- Train and mentor staff.
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and third-party vendors.
- Perform a wide range of structural engineering analysis and design tasks for steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
- Perform structural condition surveys, including non-destructive testing to document existing conditions and identify the type, cause, and extent of structural issues or deterioration.
- Prepare condition survey reports and perform structural evaluation of existing structures.
- Prepare drawings and specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents for both new construction and the repair of existing structures.
- Provide construction administration engineering services. Perform site visits and document the progress of work and compliance with the design intent.
- Travel to project sites and other offices as required, including overnight travel.
- M.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering. Structural course work is required.
- 7 to 12 or more years of experience in structural design and structural investigations.
- Familiarity with NYC/NYS Building Codes.
- P.E. license in NYS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel to job locations as needed. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to perform field work on active construction sites without restrictions, and in inclement weather if required.
- Active involvement in professional organizations.
- Published and presented technical articles.
