Daikin Applied is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer III (Structures/Vibration) who will lead technology development and modular product architecture in the Refrigeration Subsystem. Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN or Staunton, VA

What you will do:

  • Lead New Technology Introduction of any technologies in the structural subsystem of both air-cooled and water-cooled chillers solutions into chiller applications using engineering fundamentals such as statics, dynamics, FEA, and mechanical analysis
  • Develop and ownership of a product-based modular strategy for the Structural subsystems (all components and modules responsible for providing cabinetry and structural support for all chillers). This will include working with the New Product Implementation (NPI) engineers throughout the organization to ensure the relevant subsystems are designed with appropriate requirements, interfaces, and interactions
  • Provide technical leadership as an internal Subject Matter Expert in structures and vibration

    • Lead and mentor junior engineering team members in the development of structural and vibration competencies
    • Support cross-functional groups to effectively deploy new technologies through smooth transitions into production
    • Participate in design reviews to ensure best design practices are followed and alert the product team to any risks associated with respect to structural and vibration in chiller systems
    • Represent the company's interests in external technical groups (i.e. ASHRAE, UL, University consortia, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in engineering or related technical field and minimum 7 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with structures and vibration in HVAC or industrial applications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a "team-player" mentality
  • Desire to learn and develop world-class chiller knowledge
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidate must be driven with a high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in engineering or a related technical field

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $87,800 - $143,800 (+ bonus) in Minnesota or Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
