Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Promote a culture that prioritizes safety and quality within the organization.
• Lead the development of ceramic thermal processes, working with both new and existing materials and processes, utilizing DOE, profile development, and lab analysis.
• Drive improvements in processes that impact yields, capacity, cycle times, and costs.
• Standardize processes within the kiln department, including creating job instructions, production control boards, and noncompliance procedures.
• Contribute to identifying, justifying, and implementing capital equipment and engineering projects to support manufacturing goals.
• Optimize machine and material process parameters using LEAN principles, DOE, statistical analysis, and materials science.
• Collaborate closely with production personnel to track, optimize, and troubleshoot processes.
• Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing disruptions and implement permanent, sustainable countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver training materials to increase organizational awareness and functional knowledge where needed.
• Manage the selection, performance monitoring, and procurement of refractory materials.
• Advise, train, and support maintenance teams on best practices, stocking levels, and components needed for quick repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Interface with vendors and contracted support to ensure kilns are maintained and meet thermal deliverables.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials Science, Chemical, or Ceramic Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with electronics and/or combustion equipment.
• Expertise in process engineering and design.
• Hands-on experience with production and laboratory equipment, including furnaces, ovens, programmable controllers, and materials characterization tools.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within small teams.
