(DEA) is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our dynamic Southern California Transportation Group. In this role, you will support our Roads and Highways group and have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of impactful transportation projects. This position can sit in one of the following offices: LA, Apple Valley, Ontario or Tustin, CA offices
What You'll Do:
As an EIT at DEA, you will play a vital role in the delivery of transportation projects that enhance communities. Your responsibilities will be diverse and include:
- Collaborating with project teams on all aspects of project delivery, including setup, drafting, design, quality assurance, and project coordination.
- Preparing and designing improvement plans for multi-modal transportation projects with a focus on high standards and innovative solutions.
- Developing and modifying construction documents, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and designs for various transportation projects.
- Analyzing maps, reports, drawings, as-builts, and test results to support project design efforts.
- Assisting with post-design construction services, including responding to contractor RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing as-builts, and conducting field observations.
- Performing construction inspections on a project-specific basis.
- Assisting with utility coordination, including conflict analysis and coordination with stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with a desire to pursue a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 0-4 years of professional engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Drafting and design experience using Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads for alignment and 3D design surface development.
- Experience working in civil engineering, particularly in transportation.
- 1 years of experience designing transportation projects.
