Technology Product Owner

Job Summary:
Client is seeking a Technology Product Owner for one of our large Educational Services clients. This is a 6+ month contract position, partially remote in Maryland (with 5 days on-site per quarter). We are looking for an individual with experience in defining the vision for digital application products, and who can drive the planning, prioritization, and execution of backlogs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the EdTech industry and able to deliver new features that support strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Requirements Translation:
Translate business needs into clear, concise functional and technical requirements, ensuring well-defined acceptance criteria and understanding of relevant business processes.
Product Backlog Management:
Participate in prioritization and requirements refinement sessions.
Define and document product features and stories for technical breakdown and planning, ensuring that all requirements are well understood by delivery teams.
Quality Assurance:
Assure consistent quality of production-ready deliverables before promoting them to business owners or end users.
Conduct or coordinate Quality Assurance Testing to ensure product quality.
Collaboration & Coordination:
Coordinate frequently with relevant delivery teams to ensure the successful completion of competing priorities and deadlines.
Provide ongoing product knowledge and process expertise to relevant teams, ensuring knowledge sharing to avoid single points of failure.
Agile and Waterfall Methodologies:
Use both Agile and Waterfall methodologies to manage workloads, communicate progress, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Maintain accurate and consistent delivery-related metrics for assigned initiatives.
Delivery Lifecycle Management:
Responsible for progressing all deliverables to "done" status by coordinating production deployment, post-implementation analysis/feedback, and ensuring the ongoing support plan is in place.
Required Qualifications:
Certifications (if any):
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certifications are preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience in Product Ownership or Product Management, owning one or more products in an Agile, SaaS technology environment or equivalent methodology.
- Proven experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or within the Higher Education sector.
- Strong ability to interact with all levels within the organization and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in managing business, IT, and vendor resources, including vendor deliverables based on agreed contracts and statements of work.
- Strong analytical skills to resolve issues and determine effective business and IT solutions.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions with minimal supervision, and meet initiative milestones, deadlines, and budget.
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience in working with EdTech products or services.
- Project management experience in a fast-paced, SaaS-driven environment.
Certifications (if any):
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile certifications are preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
