As a Fire Sprinkler Piping Technician with the new Construction team, you will have the opportunity to work on all phases of commercial construction: Skills in all areas of piping are not necessarily required. The job can and will involve a variety of piping disciplines and a strong candidate will be able to perform a variety of pipe fabrication and installation activities.
Responsibilities
- Working as a team with the entire Construction department, the Fire Sprinkler Technician performs the new installation of sprinkler piping, stand-pipes, supports, racks, related panels, and devices
- Pressure testing and troubleshooting fire sprinkler piping and components
- Uses fire sprinkler shop drawings to plan work scopes, install requested improvements, as well as troubleshoot and correct problems as they are discovered
- Performs a wide variety of job scopes, from planning and execution to clean-up and material handling
- Displays positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
- Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter apprentice or completion of a relevant training program
- Ability and desire to pursue obtaining a Fire Marshal's Class "G" and "I" license within 3 months of employment is a plus but not required (Journeyman)
- Proficiency in using hand tools, pipe threaders, Groovers, aerial lifts, and fall protection equipment
- Ability to interpret piping prints, Life Safety drawings, specifications, and shop/fabrication drawings
- Strong knowledge in installing and troubleshooting Fire Sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, water mist, and foam systems
- Knowledge of sprinkler coverage and NFPA codes
- Ability to produce parts lists, work plans, as-built drawings, and to test and commission all work per Tesla procedures and building department codes
