Job Title: Communications Director, North America

Location: Hackensack, NJ 3 X a week

Reports To: Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer, Flora Food Group

Compensation Base Range- 200K-230K

Role Overview

The Communications Director for North America at Flora Food Group will drive regional communications strategies, tailoring global initiatives to effectively reach and resonate with North American audiences. This role is central to amplifying Flora Food Group's brand voice, engaging local stakeholders, and championing the company's mission to bring sustainable, plant-based food to more people. Working closely with the global communications team, this role ensures brand consistency and relevance while leading North America-specific initiatives that support business growth and reputation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regional Communication Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the North American market, aligned with the company's global goals but customized for local impact.
  • Media and Influencer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media and influencers in North America, enhancing Flora Food Group's visibility and positioning as a thought leader in plant-based food.
  • Brand Positioning and Messaging: Lead efforts to effectively communicate Flora Food Group's brand story and commitment to sustainable, plant-based solutions, ensuring the brand message resonates with local audiences.
  • Content Development: Create engaging content that highlights Flora Food Group's innovation, sustainability initiatives, and product offerings, from press releases to blog posts, social media, and executive communications.
  • Crisis and Issues Management: Serve as the regional point person for crisis communication, providing real-time response to manage the brand's reputation and mitigate risk.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sustainability, and sales, to support key business initiatives. Coordinate with global communications to ensure consistency and alignment in messaging.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years in communications, with at least 3 years focusing on North American markets. Experience in corporate communications within FMCG, food, or sustainability sectors required
  • Media and PR Skills: Demonstrated ability to develop media strategies, foster relationships with press and influencers, and secure high-impact media placements.
  • Local Market Insight: Deep understanding of North American consumer and media landscapes, with a knack for creating regionally relevant messages.
  • Crisis Management: Proven experience in managing communications during high-stakes situations, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Content Creation: Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into compelling, accessible content for diverse audiences.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with global teams.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field is required.
