Virbac Animal Health is seeking a R&D Technician to join our team. The R&D Technician contributes to the development of new pharmaceutical products and/or the optimization of existing pharmaceutical products for the animal health market with the objectives to have the product in agreement with regulatory requirements.

Experience: Qualified candidates must possess, at a minimum, an Associate's Degree in Applied Science- Chemical Technology or equivalent with prior experience or a BS in Chemistry preferred. 2+ years of experience working in a development lab or chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing facility preferred

Area of responsibility 1: [Formulation Research and Development Technical Expertise]

Main activities

Participate in the formulation of new pharmaceutical products for the animal health market Prepare and manufacture laboratory scale batches to evaluate initial stability of formulations; perform evaluation of physical parameters critical to the formula and report results Follow Good Documentation Practices (cGDP) in all activities and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) when applicable Participate in the review of relevant site procedures to ensure they reflect current practices Participate in planning and production of R&D batches using commercial-scale manufacturing equipment

Expected results: Provide R&D with materials suitable for stability and clinical trials and support efficient transition of products from R&D to commercial manufacturing

Area of responsibility 2: [Collaboration with Formulation R&D Team]

Main activities

Execute the procedures of batch manufacturing as provided by Formulation Scientists Provide observations and feedback to the Formulation R&D Team with the intention to strive for continuous site improvement

Expected results: Work with Formulation Scientists to successfully develop new formulations

Area of responsibility 3: [Facility management activities]

Main activities

Maintain, clean, and organize the formulation area in accordance with cGMPs Collaborate closely with maintenance department to manage facility and equipment in the formulation area Maintain equipment logs and track calibration and maintenance schedules Manage inventory of R&D materials Participate in packaging and shipping of samples for analysis

Expected results: Maintain R&D pilot scale area and equipment in a suitable fashion.

Profile

Requirements (Diploma and experience)

Associates Degree in Applied Science - Chemical Technology or equivalent with prior experience or BS in Chemistry preferred. Experience working in a development lab or chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing facility preferred

Skills

Strong problem solving abilities and scientific mindset Ability to safely operate small-scale industrial equipment Knowledge of cGMP and cGDP Strong communication and collaboration skills Proficiency with the Google Workspace platform or equivalent
