About this job:

The Assessment and Technology Gifted & Talented Specialist provides leadership in the development, implementation, coordination and support of gifted education identification and programming district-wide.

What You'll Do:
  • Serves as a member on the Gifted and Talented team to orchestrate district-wide program improvement in identification, technological structures, and assessment of gifted learners.
  • Facilitates professional development to support continuous learning and improvement of practice related to gifted education and online assessments used for gifted and highly gifted identification; creates content for and facilitates professional development for central office staff, student support staff, school leaders, schools, and/or cohorts of educators; and facilitates and organizes committees and interdepartmental collaboration to increase understanding of the nature and needs of gifted learners, particularly culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse learners.
  • Creates, supports, and maintains district identification and protocol documents and designs protocols to support the identification of culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse gifted students.
  • Orders curricular materials for specific content area(s) as needed to support gifted learners.
  • Develops and revises district-produced assessments, including training materials and parent. communication; maintains communication with appropriate teams to ensure school technology support personnel are aware of system requirements for online assessments; Oversees team of assessment proctors and orders materials and assessments for screening process.
  • Reviews and offers guidance for charter and innovation schools in implementation of gifted identification and programming requirements.
  • Creates and maintains databases of students district-wide for all assessments related to Gifted & Talented (GT).
  • Organizes data and creates reports related to identification, specifically looking at disparity data to drive improvement.
  • Creates and maintains letters used to share information about assessments with parents, ensuring letters are translated into mandated languages.
  • Creates and maintains department website and Google site.
  • Responsible for department technology inventory and coordination of ordering new technology.
  • Responsible for updating website and website content, both external and internal.
What You'll Need:
  • Master's Degree in Gifted Education is required
  • Five (5) or more years of teaching experience in gifted education is preferred; Three (3) or more years of teaching experience in gifted education is required
  • Experience in assessment management and interpretation, identification of gifted learners, data driven instruction, and recommending program improvements is preferred
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
