Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.
The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a new IPU opening in Matteson and our current IPU in Joliet.
We currently have a part-time position working 12 hours per week for a Volunteer Coordinator. This position will cover the counties of Lake McHenry, Cook and Kane. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Volunteer Manager in the daily management and coordination of the Volunteer Department. This includes:
- Providing support during the absence of the volunteer manager.
- Assisting in recruiting, training, and supervising new volunteers.
- Supervise and evaluate volunteers in our Administrative Support positions.
- Supervise and evaluate Community Outreach Volunteers.
- Assisting with all volunteer events and special projects.
- Maintain monthly statistics and current volunteer files.
- Providing information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
The successful candidate will have a college degree or equivalent experience; have Volunteer supervisory experience and be flexible in work hours. This is a non-benefit position.
