Roadway Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Roadway Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This role involves leading and contributing to the design and development of transportation projects, including highways, roadways, interchanges, and other transportation facilities. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, hands-on experience with NCDOT projects, and the ability to manage engineering tasks from conception through final deliverables. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and complete roadway engineering designs, including traffic management plans, pavement marking plans, signing plans, quantities, cost estimates, construction administration, and final specifications. Plan and review engineering drawings and specifications. Conduct field observations and data collection activities. Coordinate design details, plans, and drawings for assigned tasks. Develop project design criteria, calculations, construction details, quantities, and cost estimates. Analyze technical challenges, assess the feasibility of techniques, and propose alternative solutions. Coordinate with clients to define project schedules, deliverables, and implementation while ensuring high-quality outcomes. Mentor graduate engineers to enhance their understanding of transportation design principles. Review and check engineering work completed by team members. Actively participate in staff activities, including training sessions, special committees, and industry organizations. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum of 5 years of roadway design experience. Proficiency in MicroStation, Geopak, and/or OpenRoads. Knowledge of transportation engineering concepts, principles, and methods. EIT certification. Experience with NCDOT projects. Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
