PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Review client specifications and design Electrical/PLC based controls solution, including component selections, wiring diagrams, communication interfaces, enclosure general arrangement drawings, etc.
  • Provide Design team with the necessary information and support to generate the drawings package.
  • Develop software applications for PLC/HMI.
  • Create project-related documents, including Functional design specifications, controls narrative, test procedures, interfaces documents, user manuals, and commissioning and start-up procedures.
  • System commissioning, troubleshooting, and start-up at client locations: onshore and offshore.
  • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with the project team (Project Manager, Engineers, Technicians, etc.), clients, and suppliers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (ABET Accredited)
  • 5+ years of related experience within the Oil & Gas manufacturing industry

DESIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent electrical and technical skills to understand specifications and generate control system block diagram, power distribution, wiring diagram, instruments wiring to IOs, communications network topology, and control panel general arrangement.
  • PLC Programming – Rockwell Allen-Bradley experience is required, and any other controllers is a plus
  • HMI Programing – Wonderware and Allen-Bradley software
  • Familiarity with industrial communications protocols (Modbus, EthernetIP, OPC-DA, OPC-UA, Profibus, etc.) and experience in configuring communications interface modules.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area design requirements to NEC, IEC, ATEX. Formal training and certifications to these standards is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution and interfaces with motor starters and VFDs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable in industry relevant standards (NEC, IEC, ATEX, etc.)
  • Self-sufficient in work ethic, ability to work independently with little to no supervision
  • Familiar with offshore and subsea operations
