Sr Systems Engineer

Position Summary: The Technology Services department of the Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) is seeking a skilled and qualified Systems Engineer to support the on-site management and maintenance of enterprise-level IT infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient and secure operation of WCAA's technology ecosystem, serving both Detroit Metro (DTW) and Willow Run (YIP) airports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and implement IT projects to achieve Technology Services' strategic goals.
• Manage, maintain, and support enterprise system architecture, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Provide 24x7x365 support for enterprise hardware and software systems as required.
• Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Generate performance reports and metrics to support analysis and future planning.
• Establish and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Offer technical guidance and operational support to staff and contractors.
• Ensure daily on-site presence (Monday to Friday).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. OR
• High School Diploma with at least 4 years of demonstrated experience in enterprise environments utilizing the technologies listed below.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Technology Expertise: 4+ years of hands-on experience managing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting the following:

a. Microsoft Server Platforms:

• Windows Server 2019/2022
• Windows SQL Server

b. Microsoft Software Services:

• Windows Desktop OS
• Microsoft 365
• Microsoft Defender

c. Microsoft Management Services:

• Active Directory
• Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
• Microsoft Intune

d. Microsoft Azure Cloud Services:

• Azure AD
• Azure CLI
• Azure Governance

e. Dell Infrastructure:

• PowerEdge MX740C, R660, R760 servers
• Compellent SC200 storage
• Stream Vault SVS-7020E and SV-7040EX
• vxRail E5

f. VMware Platforms:

• ESXi
• vCenter
• vSphere

2. Storage and Backup Systems: 3+ years of experience managing:

• Pure Storage arrays (FlashArray // X20R3, C50R4, Pure1, ActiveCluster)
• Backup and recovery services
• File and print services
• Data center installation (rack and stack)

3. Solution Design: 2+ years of experience designing and integrating server, storage, backup, and security solutions (physical and virtual) within enterprise environments.

4. Physical Requirements:

• Ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise with VMware vSAN.
• Experience with VEEAM Enterprise Backup and Wasabi Cloud.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
• Familiarity with Azure Co-Pilot AI.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, and documentation.

Certifications: Preference will be given to candidates holding one or more of the following certifications (or equivalent):

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

VMware:

• VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) - Data Center Virtualization
• VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) - Data Center Virtualization Design/Deploy
• VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)
• VMware Certified Specialist - vSAN 2024

Pure Storage:

• Pure Storage Certified Platform Architect Expert
